The ART FOR DEVELOPMENT EXPO is a platform designed to showcase indigenous Arts and Crafts for Development by leveraging on technology, with a focus to promote local arts and craft as a viable means and source of sustainable livelihood.

This event will assist to empower people living in poor and excluded communties in Nigeria.

Women Peer Education Programme

Kogi State level Bi-aunnual interactive meeting of Women Peer Education Programme

Women Peer Education Programme is focused on creating a society that values men, women, boys and girls equally. It seeks to advance the rights of women and girls, promoting peer learning amongst women at Community level

It is a response to the obvious gaps and needs of women at Community level.

It commenced in Nigeria in 2012 with a first manual which was used by the peer circles from 2012 to 2016 of which a revised manual has been developed in 2017 with leading participation of community women who are the primary users of the manual

A refresher training was held in September 2017 for women peer facilitators on 7 LRP Communities in Kogi.

Mrs Gift Omoniwa the Executive Director of Participation Initiative for Behavioural change in Development (PIBCID) said PIBCID in Partnership with ActionAid Nigeria(AAN) supported the roll out/step down of the refresher training for the facilitators with their circles members, a total of 18 circles has been formed in 7 LRP Communities she said.

PIBCID/AAN has also carried out monthly monitoring and mentoring visit to give technical support to facilitators during their peer circle meetings in their various communities. The women peer education programme has recorded a number of success stories from women in the communities; Request for support on family planning to support the zeal for child spacing which is one of the major issue of child birth rate in the communities and also formation of cooperatives on similar business areas to mention a few.

Mrs Hajara Advisor on Local Right Programme LRP ActionAid Nigeria AAN urged the women to put in more effort and make it a success because the success of the programme is the success of everyone in Kogi State and Nigeria at large

The Community Peer Education Programme facilitators present at the Biannual meeting said that they can now ensure an atmosphere of peace in their families and also the knowledge on perseverance which has helped the women to put in more effort into their economic activities.

Kogi State Ministry of Women Affair present recommended the programme as a good having a good and healthy women and girls..

The People living with Disabilities were not left out of the Programme as they are also women and are also at the recieving end if the programme is not well implemented with action plans.

Lagos State Youth Summit on reinforcing Nigerians Commitments for implementation of ACDEG

The Youth summit ended well and was successful.. It was a more of great engagements at the program. The Chairman Political committee, Nigeria Labour Congress was present and gave a awesome Commitment to the support of ACDEG (African Charter on Democracy, Election and Governance)
